Well, this was truly an experience… having to shoot for such a successful TV series on Netflix with a storyline from Agency Entropia, together Magnum Ice-Cream & Lightflux Productions.  2 big clients, with 1 singular idea; to intertwine the look & feel of a thriller & a Belgian velvety smooth ice-cream product, with a call-to-action at the end.  Needless to say, expectations were very high as we had to recreate the famous Professor’s hideout here in Malaysia.  We scouted several locations & finally landed on a semi-used warehouse that could evoke just the right feeling; broken windows, dusty floors, abandoned equipment…. We then further propped up the surroundings with fencing, chalkboards, papers, the all important table, phone, etc.  All thanks to the great work of our Art Department Head Kok Ming.  We also had to prop up the Magnum Packing factory, which we managed to in different section of the same warehouse, with conveyor belts, & boxes of Magnum.  Shooting this had to be done at night into the early morning as we needed the dark ambient of the hideout, enabling us to create our own shafts of light through windows, etc.  It would have been impossible if we shot this during the daytime, as the warehouse had skylights & just too much light coming from all sides.  Casting was crucial for our Professor & Nairobi, & they performed their roles magnificently.  Thankfully, we didn’t have to use the Professor’s actual voice, but his actions & gestures had to be just right.  We shot some additional footages of the Pavilion digital billboards, & some drone footages of Bukit Bintang’s iconic digital billboard screens as well, during the day.  Our DOP was none other than Nicholas Chin – a big fan of Money Heist – and it truly shows in the end film.  Shot with the 6k Komodo for efficiency of moving around on the DJI gimbal.  Edited by freelancer Gerard, Graded by freelancer Chloe Tavel, & Online by Am from De Touche.  It was major touch up work because the masks that we received, were shiny & didn’t have black holes for eyes, hence we had to remove a lot of the reflections & blackened the eye holes for every scene that out MH team was in. Music was from the Netflix library, & soundly put together by The Rec Room.
