TRAVELOKA ‘Best Price Guarantee’
When Director’s are asked to write treatments, it’s not always the most pleasant feeling lol. But I had a good feeling about this one & gave it my best. Turns out, it was enough! So, this job, naturally, feels very personal to me. From Traveloka’s internal Creative Agency, Creative Lab, we (KDCo) were tasked to create a film that has a lot of anxious & stressful moments, & with the introduction of their Godwit bird (not a mascot btw), he turns things around with the Traveloka app, eventually teleporting them to their holiday destination. We wanted to push the whole opening idea by having multiple hands for the couple, a visual metaphor for how it really is when we book a holiday – we compare prices for everything as who doesn’t want the best holiday pricing? So, we used a lot of probe lenses to get in close to the action; the red eyes, the sweat, the frantic swiping of phones etc. And then we shot the multiple hands against green screen, with as many different actions as possible. We had a stand-in for Godwit whenever we needed our couple’s eyelines in the correct angle/level. Shot in 1 house, & then for the beach scene, we had to move to AFE studio where we setup a portion of sand (not beach sand, as that’s apparently illegal in Msia), for our talents to really step & set their deck chairs on. We had blowers on set to create that windy feeling, & had generic AI resort renderings to create our background. DPed by Kenz Koh, using the Sony Venice 2, with Jay as Art Director.
