BAYGON MAX ‘MAXsimal Protection’
Another collaboration with Agency Media Monks & my 2nd with clients SC Johnson, we worked together with Lightflux to create a beautiful, warm & embracing film – actually 2 films. Initially, we were supposed to film only 1 scene each & replace the product in post-production – because the products would be similar in size, height, shape. However, upon seeing the actual products, we realized that it was a tall order, as one was actually shorter (Baygon MAX for Indonesia) than the other. AND the one we were going to shoot with – with real spray – was not this shorter one! Which wouldn’t work for us – if we had to do real product replacements. During our shoot, we had such a great mum & daughter duo, that we decided on set itself, that we would ease the burden of post-production & shoot 2 versions each. So all they had to do was focus on adding more spray on the empty cans – that we shot elements for against black. However, we had more challenges, executing 2d animation of insects that look as real as possible. Our hands were pretty much tied on this one – even though we had shot some real insects on set – mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches – but they weren’t the actual scientifically named ones on the cans themselves – & it was literally impossible to capture the speed of them moving about. Thus, we settled for just animation of the legs & wings of whatever we could find online. Shot with DP Kenz Koh, using the Arri Alexa Mini, with Art Department Kok Ming. Post Production by DeTouche. Music from Ananth.
